Waxing FAQs

Q: How long does my hair have to be to get waxed?

A: The hair should be the length of a grain of rice- about an inch. If it’s longer- no worries, that’s what we’re here for. We suggest that you stop shaving 4 weeks prior to your first appointment.

Q: How often should I get waxed?

A: Depending on how fast your hair grows, waxing should be done every 4 to 6 weeks. The more consistent your waxing appointments, the better your results! Hair growth slows and the hairs themselves thin and soften with repeated waxing.

Q: What should I do before my appointment?

A: Please exfoliate the area with a dry brush/washcloth/exfoliating mitt & moisturize with a fragrance free oil or lotion 48 hours before your appointment! We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothes and taking ibuprofen an hour before if you would like. Avoiding caffeine and alcohol the day of can also help lessen any discomfort.

Q: What should I do after my appointment?

A: For up to 36 hours after your wax, please avoid anything that causes excess sweat (i.e. saunas, exercise, sexual activities, tanning), communal bodies of water (pools, hot tubs, lakes, oceans), tanning (in a bed or outdoors), fragranced lotions or sprays on the waxed area, and anything that would exfoliate the waxed area (chemical exfoliation, physical scrubbing, dermaplaning, chemical peels, ect).

Q: Is there anything that prevents me from getting waxed?

A: If you have taken or used ANY acne medication (including but not limited to accutane, differin, tretinoin, ect) within the last six months it is not safe for you to get a wax. Please stop using retinol products a week prior to your wax, and any other topical acid or lightening agent (ie glycolic acid, salicylic acid, AHAs, BHAs, hydroquinone, ect) 48 hours before your wax. We can not wax skin that is sunburned, bruised, has active acne (pustules and papules), or has a cold sore, or any areas with rosacea or eczema. Please let your esthetician know if you are on blood thinners, steroids, or diabetes medication, and if you have had any laser treatments, facial treatments, or surgeries recently.
